Motobot Is The New Yamaha’s Motorcycle-Riding Robot

Motobot is an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot built by Yamaha. It was unveiled at the 44th Tokyo Motor Show 2015.

This 44th Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha has unveiled an eye-catching autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot – a pure collaborative endeavor of Yamaha’s motorcycle and robotics technology. Known as Motobot, the robot will eventually be able to ride an unmodified motorcycle on a racetrack at more than 200 kilometers per hour, which R&D is currently working on for.

Motobot has a stabilizer wheels on for now, but as the development progresses, I do not think Motobot will even have the need for those. It is likely that they put the stabilizer wheels as one of the means to overcome control over complex motions of a motorcycle at high speeds.

“We want to apply the fundamental technology and know-how gained in the process of this challenge to the creation of advanced rider safety and rider-support systems and put them to use in our current businesses, as well as using them to pioneer new lines of business,” said Yamaha in a news release.
